Resources

We have a wide range of immersive virtual reality and augmented reality equipment:

  • Various Head-mounted displays: VR1280, VR8, VR4, Sony Glasstron & LiteEye
  • An Onyx Infinite Reality 2, used to drive the ReaCTor
  • An SGI Prism, used to drive the ReaCTor
  • Two PC cluster systems than can be used to drive HMDs or the ReaCTor
  • Wireless Intersense IS-900 in the ReaCTor and two Fastrak tracking systems.
  • Vicon motion capture system integrated in the ReaCTor
  • A phantom system and a custom two-handed force-feedback system for use in the ReaCTor
  • A variety of bio-signals amplifiers and sensors. Including g.tech, Nexus and procomp systems
  • A range of high-end PC systems
  • High-end GPS, still camera systems, flash units, firewire camera systems, PDAs, video-cameras, ...

The main VR software that we use and to which we have contributed to is DIVE. We also use CAVELib, VRJuggler, Performer, OpenSG, XVR

Some of our research software is available for use either on request or publicly . This includes:

  • DIVE - a distributed VR platform that supports immersive and desktop systems.
  • PIAVCA - a high-level avatar animation suite.
  • Mixed Reality Toolkit (MRT) - for integrating virtual entities in to live video.
